Not Home For The Holidays

The McLallen Inn was my home away from home for the past few days. I stayed here so I could spend a few days shooting the farm land of NY.

Exploration

Two shots from yesterday and two from today! My first real long exposure, not too shabby. I spent almost all of today exploring miles of farmland, it was so relaxing (but harsh on my gas tank).

Unfamiliar Places

My thanksgiving trip is finally here. On my way to the Inn, Nathan and I drove through the town of Watkins Glen where I made him pullover to check out this waterfall. How could I not with a name like that!?

Time To Rest

Week Ten is behind me, the apartment is empty and the weekend is here. I couldn't pass up a walk in the park on this beautiful saturday afternoon.

Early

Early morning frost on my walk around 745. Winter in Rochester is coming and coming fast - I don't know if I'm ready for it but the end of week ten is sounding really good right about now.

Sara&Cara Obscura

So after I took a hiatus from photo for about a week - this is the first thing I did when I came back. This camera obscura is for my history & aesthetics of photography class but its sooo cool I had to share it. I could have hung out in my room all day, watching cars driving and people walking by upside on my wall was awesome.

Kodak Portra 160 VC

Out of focus.
Too much shadow.
Totally un-salvageable.

Me and color film have a love hate relationship. I really enjoyed the change of pace with analog for a while but editing/printing color film is just the most time consuming, tedious and unsatisfying process I have ever gone through.

Concrete Mountains

It seems that everywhere you go there is more and more construction popping up and causing you to be late for class.

Passion

Once upon a time I went on a roadtrip and fell in love with a town. Then I happen to fall in love with a boy who lives in this town. Now I basically have unlimited access to (one of) my favorite placesin the world and it's awesome.

Manscapes

Highland Park has a new addition: a loud and messy construction site. They are building a reservoir in the middle of this beautiful park that I love to get lost in.

Things That Once Were

So I finally got a chance to go to the abandoned subway I've heard so much about. I heard they're redoing the place so I obviously had to get some good shots before its all gone. Great lighting in there, even though its creepy.

Mmm

"Create a series of images that explore your relationship with food and objects"Well, food and I have a great relationship. I was fortunate enough to grow up in a house where both my parents loved to cook and were basically unofficial wine-connoisseurs. I could have white wine and antipasto for the rest of my life and die happy.

Comfy

PJ kids are comfortable in any surroundings. They're not afraid to get in the middle of the action, or in the middle of a tree for that matter.

Frame of Mind

I have such a hard time thinking in terms of fine art. I try to put myself in a "fine-arty" frame of mind and try to capture that aesthetic pleasing, simple (but not boring) shot but it never seems to come out quite right. I don't even know what "fine-arty" is.

Do you see what I see?

Transformer? Lion? A bunch of twigs on a scanner, printed  then traced?
